With the gov't threat of heavy regulation for off shore USA drilling, yet to come, off shore Africa is going to be considered a good bet to many.

If you can find an explorer/producer in Africa listed on the ASX.

Anyone know any ??

I would like to throw the big Australian, BHP, into the ring as they have a few deep sea wells in the Gulf of Mexico which may qualify on a nearology basis seeing as this is also in the North Atlantic Ocean, a mere stones throw across from Senegal on a similar latitude. Closer on fact than some parts of the African coast.
BHP has the Mad Dog field in 1554m of water and is the operator of the Shenzi field 1300m. Shenzi has the 2nd deepest TLP (tension leg platform) rig in the world.

They also have a 44% share in the atlantis field with BP also in the gulf of Mexico in 1800m+ of water.

In their half yearly, page 10, it talks of a strong exploration programme increasing for this year from 600m to 800 million

FAR fetched as a potential farm in? They seem to have the expertise and seem to operate in stable areas.

Disclosure do not hold bhp and very limited exploration knowledge!
