You are absolutely right. Gaps get closed more than 80% of the time and almost always within 3-5 trading days. If the gap hasn't been closed after five trading days, then generally speaking you can forget about it. It won't be closed at all. The exception is for large gaps (in percentage terms). The more significant they are, the more likely they are to be filled, despite the '5 day' rule.
