Not much different to what the Greens have done to Farmers in Qld...they are not allowed to clear THEIR land without making application to the Council, and even then there is no guarantee they can do anything.
Just wait for the next fire to come through to destroy their house and sheds due to the uncleared land and out of control undergrowth.

Tell you how dumb the greeny Councils are; Years ago I was involved in new land sales, in a new development the Council would go through and mark all the trees that had to be retained...this is before before the land was cleared for the breaking up in to blocks for housing.

Of course once the land was cleared the roads and drainage put in and the land broken up in to blocks, more often than not the trees that were left standing ended up being in the middle of the block where a house was supposed to be built. The person buying the land then had to apply to the Council to have the tree removed. The Council Inspector would come out, check that it wasn't a Koala habitat, then either give permission to remove it or not.

In some cases the owners of the land were unable to build their house of choice as it would not fit around a tree they did not have permission to remove. I noted some trees would just strangely disappear over a weekend....
