The third alternative is shut everything except essential services down for two months, an enforced lockdown where all but a few stay at home, which would eradicate the virus. After that we could almost return to normal but with everyone wearing a mask and any overseas arrivals entering two weeks enforced quarantine which would continue until the pandemic is over or a vaccine is developed. This is the path I would be taking.
