It would be nice to think it could be seen as strategic by the Australian Government and blocked.
More likely they'd rather pay more once the tech has been proven up to a commercial standard and being used in the field.
It would also sign to its customers its product is soon to be redundant and lose credibility. They are making a lot of money with the status quo. Are we in their sights going forward? They will wait for proof of concept to be up and running.
Better for them to pay 10x without the risk. In the meantime they are still raking it in. And the raise made us more vulnerable to multiple predators. But not yet!
