I always appreciate your posts @jandb85 and think it would be so much more beneficial if management explained our contribution to battery prgress in line with normal persons thinking.
I for one have held off buy-in an EV due to range restrictions and unknown future value once the battery deteriorates.
However, if I knew that our products would enable a battery to run for 300,000km and still have 70% capacity then i;d certainly look at it
- how many kms remain at 70%
- what does the stated range reduce to at 70%
- what life is left until the car needs a new battery?
- will my 5 year old EV be worth anything if i have done 300,000 kms
to be honest 300,000 kms is the life of many ICE vehicles - i have an old jeep with 280,000km and its worth nothing - what's and ev in comparison - if it means i get to drive 20km to the shops and back and need a re-charge then that's shit, but is i get 200 or 300 km between charges still its a completely different story.
All questions that will lead to meaningful investment from those like me, and fuel further ev uptake because there are still too many unknowns for the conservative purchaser. The early adopter have already taken them up, which might be 10 - 20% - the herd is who need convincing.
