    My thought process is that for the prototyping stage they would make a few different batteries and test them in an EV. Hook the EV up to a computer and see how the battery handles under different driving conditions, temperatures, charging times. pretty much everything. Then make any adjustments as required.
    Once you get to a stage that you are happy with everything you go ahead and implement the design freeze.
    Then comes the manufacturing trial/validation whereby MB needs to ensure the machinery / production lines can consistently pump out these batteries at scale, and that each battery meets the quality control requirements as set by MB.

    I know DR said "I'm pleased to confirm that we are providing anteoX for incorporation into anodes for manufacturing validation as part of Mercedes process involved in moving to a design freeze" but my gut feel is that the definition of "design freeze" has changed since Mercedes has been ousted as EV1

    This is all guesswork though and I could be way off the mark
