I'm not an accountant, or auditor, but I have been advised that in those fields it is important to maintain consistency in data presentation otherwise people like me get confused about what they are trying to represent?
It still concerns me that from one F/Y to another the number changes without an explanatory note to clarify why the change was necessary. Small detail maybe, was it intentional, was it an error, what does it represent? But some people pay attention to detail and what it implies about how a company is run.
