The Tesla prototypes were these design concepts or production prototypes? Do you know?
the thing is Mercedes are going from prototype to production this year according to desktop research. Is the Mercedes prototype a clay model or a full working version which they will iron out problems before mass production? can't be clay models there is not time. If design finalization is before prototype IMO there would not be lots of designs being prototyped (I may be wrong, just my opinion) into a full vehicle as MB will be building this vehicle meticulously from ground up to ensure production is as efficient as possible whilst meeting quality requirements. Lots of designs being prototyped will cost a lot of money and time.
Has anyone seen Mercedes design to production staged with definitions? Tesla's execution framework maybe similar with different names. Desktop research I have done on Google is far from clear for prototype versus concept stage definitions across the automotive industry.
