Particularly interesting is that Merrill Gray spent a couple of days at the labs, to understand better not only the technology, but the AnteoTech team behind it. She comes across in the interview as a no-nonsense person, and even from her cv, she is obviously well-experienced and capable.

Those shareholders who have been around over the last few years, may remember that her fellow-director Glenda McLaughlin rolled up her sleeves on the battery side of the business, stepping into the breach after the euGeni hiatus. Geoff Cumming of course knows the business well, and has always displayed a consistent and strong commitment and contribution to the company.

In my view, every director of a company needs to understand thoroughly the company, the business it is in (and in our case, the technology), the company structure, its people, its strengths and weaknesses, and the market and its opportunities - for starters. How else can they undertake risk assessment, advise on and review strategy . . . these cannot be simply dismissed as operational matters. Throwing much of that on the shoulders of a CEO as "operational", is in my view, an abrogation of responsibility, and a recipe for failure. Replacing a CEO is much too late - like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

So I'm very pleased that those three have put the shoulder to the wheel, and they have my strong support. My final comment: I think Merrill will add great value to the Board - looks the type who has the courage of her convictions, the capability to follow through, and the tenacity to do so.
