Their performance can only be measured against their self generated KPI's
It appears there are certain members of the board who are allowing their enthusiasm and expectations run well ahead of reality.
I would suggest they temper their enthusiasm, lower their expectations and make real-life estimations. They should know the game by now, they are experienced enough. Although it does tend to indicate there are potential conflicts within the board that prevent rational risk/ reward analysis being applied.
