You explained his reason - why didn't he? You explained it and gave a counter argument - well done. That gives people a two way look at a two-sided situation.

(IMO) the company IS on a knife edge - no doubt about that. However, the technology is real, it has potential. What is needed is a foot in the door, somehow, somewhere.
I give it (say) a 4 to 1 (20%) chance of becoming a stable, successful income generating outfit, with potential to outstrip a 4 to 1 return from here by a country mile. That leaves an 80% chance that it won't, but the remaining 20% could end up generating much more than a 4 to 1 result.
That is what I call value. I am a gambler. Bring it on.
