Porsche is preparing to work on a new solid-state battery that would give trams a range of more than 1,300 kilometers, according to overseas media reports. Porsche is developing a new solid-state battery that its researchers believe will increase the energy density of such batteries by 50 percent and is expected to give electric cars a range of more than 807 miles (about 1,300 kilometers), the report said. Porsche is experimenting with silicon instead of graphite, which is expected to increase the battery's energy storage density by a factor of 10, while having the ability to charge quickly, from 5 percent to 80 percent in 15 minutes.
