What's your logic in asserting he's an ALP in LNP clothes?

The thing is the 1989 amendments to sections 351 and 417 of the 1958 act are Labor initiatives with LNP approval and deliberately there to provide both harsh or lenient application of the rules, regardless of the court decisions.

The amendments were made because of public objection to the Minister having carte blanch, unaccountable, unstructured and non consulted decision making that could be politically motivated. Perhaps driven by the disquiet in ethnicity of the new arrivals begun under the previous LNP govt.

Not sure this govt cares much about structure, policy and criteria though.
