Thought I'd give a status update in USA. I preset the server to be US West and it connected fine to AT&T straight away when I landed. Hasn't not dropped out or disconnected once.
I'm now on a free wifi service which is open and WGL connected smoothly. Very happy to have security and so far experience is great.
