re: ** thoughts on avm/mnut Paul I agree with you that the governement responsibitlity was not, are hardly mentioned in this case. They where looking for a soft target and that was AVM.
On the other end it will be a lesson for any mine working in Congo style countries not become involved in local matters even if this means saying no to governement officials who wants to use mine equipment to bring back "law and order".

The same problem has happened in Irian Jaya with the grasberg mine where villagers have been killed and suposedly the millitary was using mining property and airstrip to get the "work" done to protect the mine.

Today Grasberg is still in production filling the governement coffins in Java with taxes and providing good returns to investors around the worlkd, in the meantime all is forgotton exept by those who lost their loved ones.
