treefer there are many threads started, that only exist because they get posted.... but they only continue to exist because they stimulate discussion, even derision is discussion mate.

baiters whinge about the international news thread is started but I made predictions (more fool me for failing to resist temptation).... but its not obsessive or even selective. I've been posting what I find because I'm interested. aren't you interested to see how the rest of the world assessed the result of our referendum? some said that nobody is watching our debate... they were wrong. they were referring to their wish that none would notice our racist posts.

many here despise Grattan..... I admire her astute insights. your paraphrase is pretty close: heres the quote.

"To blame lack of bipartisanship, mis/disinformation, and racism is kidding ourselves. The margin was too wide.
"To think Peter Dutton’s support could have swung things is a very long stretch. The conservatives would have been divided, whatever Dutton did.
"And yes, misleading information and conspiracy theories were flying around. But it’s insulting to suggest that so many voters were just duped.
"Kos Samaras is a director of RedBridge, a political consultancy firm that undertakes research, including deep dives to tap people’s attitudes. Samaras is no right winger – he’s a former Labor operative, and a declared “yes” voter. His views on the intense focus on disinformation are worth thinking about."

my point is: it is what it is..... analyse, study, learn and move forward.

to ignore the lessons from the vote is to forget about the cause and to fall at the next hurdle instead of doing better.
