I appreciate the intent and the effort, it proves you have at least considered my position. Cheers. Essentially, my threshhold is absolute. While there are issues that are the sole purview of the political class that are not contentious and not particularly sensitive, it would be best for all concerned that someone like the Australian Cricket Captain didn't try to guess himself which ones are and which ones aren't. Getting it wrong can have tremendous downside for various parties, even if the sentiment is well-meaning, etc.
The second bit is more reductio ad absurdum. If you can find someone who wants to argue that the sun won't come up tomorrow, you should save that sort of stuff for them.
