99% of QLD teachers are Labor supporters.
100% belong to the teachers union.
When QLD performed lowest of all states on numeracy literacy and a host of other measures the ALP and Union determined it was because of the poor pay of the teachers. Accordingly they determined to pay the teachers more to get better and better qualified teachers.
So teachers got a pay rise to encourage better quality teachers to apply.
NOT one - NOT one under performing teacher got fired - but they all got a pay rise.
The choice of teachers still comes predominately from the graduating class of teacher ed QLD.
Less than 1% of teachers come from outside QLD.
So the closed system which is supplying QLD with crap teachers is still in place - but now earning $100 000 per year.
OH and by the way - only apply if you are female!! I did see one male teacher the other day but he was over 60.
