In Qld the unions have done a deal with the ALP Government where the majority of school teachers will now be on 6 figure incomes. First year teachers will be on a min $60k income then get yearly increases...
Let's see...minimum hours 8.45am to 3pm...40 school weeks out of 52 weeks a year.
Most people would work at least 36 hours a week for 48 weeks...school teachers maybe 6.5 hours minimum for 40 weeks = $46.15 per hour for a first year teacher, or for a teacher on $100k = $76.92 per hour.
Ok they have to put in a few hours out of school hours getting their act together...but I know of a couple of mature age school teachers who go snow skiing at least three times a year when they get the school holidays...
Not bad for never actually leaving school...all the failed students in other disciplines will be lined up to become a school teacher.
