Since you have 90% BHP your portfolio will probably be pretty volatile but it's a smart investment I think if you're prepared for that. BHP is a great buy now if you're looking to hold for 2 or 3 years. If they acquire RIO and don't dilute their stock too much, there would have to be massive appreciation in their share price, since they would be one of the biggest and most diversified miners in the world, and the future of their industry is pretty certain.
Right now the uncertainty over the RIO deal and the volatility of US markets is keeping their price down so IMO a great buying opportunity as those issues will only be temporary. I wish I had more money to buy more BHP :)
