Yes EL it was the Outlander he was talking about. Just had a bit of a read about them and can see how a hybrid vehicle is not a useful example for this thread. They are not expected to go over the daily commute on the battery alone.
Don't have a lot of preconceptions about the technology but I am a rusted on cynic when it comes to politicians who think they are above the laws of physics, chemistry or economics for that matter. Mandates and grand gestures from politicians are usually more of an hindrance than a help.
