I am just trying to remember.

I was there for about six years in the 1960's at the Broadmeadows plant as a Budget/Cost analyst, but I spent part of my time at the Geelong plant, to which I travelled every day, from memory, for training.

Two of our managers came from Geelong, one was bright, the other one, was an absolute dill; how he go the job I was never able to ascertain. It was certainly an experience I will never forget. He once told me that if I couldn't solve a problem, to spend some time seating on a toilet seat, think about it there, and as a result, the problem would be resolved!

We spent endless overtime hours, for which we were paid at overtime rates. But it sucked the life out of me.

I also, much later, worked for another American firm (in a different industry),which sent me overseas for training, upon which I extracted an overseas holiday. The Americans, in my time, never really came to grips with the very different Australian work place attitude, and they eventually left.
