I think Telstra and other comms companies should have continued to compete in the cities where competition works and drives improvement (there are sufficient customers) and the government could build the infrastructure in regional areas. I don't think it was necessary to have an Australia wide monopoly. Why create a monster in Telstra, tear it down because of monopolistic behaviour and then build a new monopoly? does not compute!
