if we think that the usa is a particular kind of dumb - with it's own navigation systems on water, it's own mile, it's own gallon, and it's preferred betting odds system, which are as intuitive as zip - - etc etc
go have a long and close look at England - they are going hard to outdo the yanks in being a 'special' kind of stupid
they've got imperial and metric --------- uh huh - bad enough
but, they take it much further - they 'mix em up'
so, in markets you find pounds, shillings and pence per - pound - but, the produce next to it will be in 'kilos'
now we're dealing with a population here where you go into a specialist engineering shop and some staff know what an inch is - and even a half inch, but hey - that quarter stuff or 6 mm.
