People are not going to put off buying basics such as food when prices are falling. They need food.
If "they don't purchase goods, services and large durables like cars and appliances right now," it's because they don't NEED them right now, just to keep up with the Joneses. And they'll be better off for it as they won't need more debt (gosh, there's that word again), and a central banker hates people who won't keep his Ponzi debt scheme going.
What a farce. And people believe this crap because it comes from a central banker.
