There are so many factors to throw into the mix here. Rudds, stuff ups, Gillard's knifing of him and the Queensland back lash which resulted.
Which ever way you want to cut it, it's a remarkable result given the 07 result and the fact that just 12 months ago, Labor looked like a cert for another term or two at least.
Rudd's arrogance, Gillard's knifing of him, Labor's back flip on the Carbon Tax, The Mining Tax issue, the pink bats debacle, the schools computer and schools "sheds" stuff up's to name but a few no doubt had an effect. Throw into that the boat people issue and it all created a poisonous mix for Labor which resulted in a greater than 5 percent swing nationally against them.
