Why did pet stores get banned from dog sales

"Oscars Law" ran a big scare campaign to get the Andrews government to ban sales of dogs and cats from pet stores

We all know that Andrews will get on to any emotive public outrage to advance his sagging popularity

But the crux of the matter appears to be that we have in Australia problems with "puppy farms" and in a misguided move to take the easy way out rather than attack and prosecute the bad puppy farms they have banned the sale of cats and dogs from registered pet shop businesses

So how does that affect the sales from puppy farms ? as far as I can see it doesn't

A pet shop if it is operated correctly by the law will not be selling puppy farm animals so why stop a legitimate controllable business and not the illegal business such as the puppy farm

A pet shop owner that I spoke to said that they had only been visited by an inspector once in the last year so it's easier for the bureaucrats to sit on their tails in their plushy tax payer funded offices than actually go out and do some work,

They would have to get off their bums and find and prosecute the puppy farms, plus it's a quick fix for Andrews and a TV appearance of how he is fixing the world
