    Hes retiring from international cricket because the timing really couldn't be better.

    Australia have got the ashes back and after the Sydney test it will be 11 mths before Australia plays there next international test.

    Yes he probably could go for a few more years but international cricket is very demanding and believe it or not he hurts out there.He wants to go out when hes in good form and not go out because he can't cut it anymore.

    Most of them still play cricket because they love the game and playing for Hampshire is not a top level competition.

    I believe he simply feels hes achieved enough and why not go out on top?

    Angry your assumptions are ridiculous and are from very very left field.Stating you pay his wages and are entitled to the "real" reason is ludicrous as well.

    Shane was the one out there doing the work and has done more then enough for his country and the game.How hard was it for us to watch a genius spinner at work and reaping the glory from the victories?
