Wherever I look the freedom and rights of the majority are more and more limited because we cannot or don't want to control the minority of 'unsocial members' of our society. We feel good about our high moral standings towards people which do not share our basic rules rather than defend these basic standards. The system is now build more on wishful thinking nurtured by vested interest groups than common sense and our highly complicated thinking (political correctness, CARE -Cover Arsx Retain Employment, rights vs responsibilities, etc.) doesn't help either. In the meantime we feel sorry for the victims and question what we have done wrong and how we can secure our life more by limiting our own rights not realizing that not everyone is like us and will never be. Naturally we have to spend more money into resocialisation programs because more money is better for anything. If it wouldn't be so sad it would be a great satire of a failed dream.
How often do you come across people ranting and raving in public - no self discipline just letting everyone know what happened to them. We are living through the extreme examples of a 'me' related divided society.
A very sad occasion but we should make sure that we learn from it. RIP for the victims and a short trial for the guy without media coverage, medical experts, etc.. Any media exposure is only encouragement for others.
