I know this will be lost on the devout, so a thought for the agnostic.

In the high stake debate between Super Symmetry vs Multiverse it was crucial that the LHC could find the missing particles that supported the Super Symmetry argument. It failed and they could not be detected. So the case strengthened that our Universe is just one of many and if so it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to ever understand anything beyond our own Universe.

Even if we were to build understanding, it would only be an understanding of a random set of numbers in one random universe. But lets blow up a few hospitals full of children because some historic schizophrenic said his God told him the land was theirs.
