what would you do if you were paying billions for something?
a) make it easy fotr the company selling it by following their schedule exactly and giving them exactly what they want
b)try to save a little money (tens of million$) by putting your offer in at the last minute, researching the company that is selling the asset to see if there is pressure to sell by a certain date or certain price.
i am just speculating but i am fairly confident that MEO could have given us a nice announcement if they wanted to, that the farmout contract has been signed (for a less than fair price), why not wait and get a better price? just like im not selling my stock now, ill sell later for $1.20 :)
