I'm no fan of Abbott - don't like many of his policies - and I don't think he has the fortitude to follow through on the ones I do like.
That said, Abbott has been the single greatest influence on government policy since he took the Liberal leadership - he got the ETS put off until some unspecified time in the future, succeeded in (all but) killing the RSPT, and changed the imigration/asylum seeker policy.
Yea he'll lose, but he's succeeded in advancing every policy he wanted from opposition. That's an incredible achievement.
