I've been following this thread for a while now but this is the first time that I'm creating an account and posting here because I thought this is information worth sharing. Mig is a stock that some in this thread hold confidently and for good reason too. They have 40m monthly active users. A company with 40m monthly active users surely has a bright future.

However whenever I asked anyone I personally know from Indonesia or Philippines or any of the markets that their users are supposedly from "Are you on Migme?" the answer I get back is "What's that? We know Facebook though". Nobody seems to know what Migme is outside of the investment community in Australia.

So I did some digging and here's what I found.

1) If any of you are on Android, open Google Play and search for the Migme app.

You'll see a badge there that says how many downloads it has had from the start of time. It indicates 1 million. That's a lot of downloads but for an app that has 40 million monthly ACTIVE users, that doesn't make sense. To give you some context, Instagram reports 400 million monthly active users. If you search for the app on Google Play you'd see 1 BILLION downloads. That makes sense because not every download converts to an active user and downloads are not unique. The same person can download the app a few times on different devices.

2) So maybe then the traffic is from the mobile web/web. For those there are websites that can indicate such. The gold standard for measuring website traffic is Similarweb.

Similarweb says that Migme gets about 632K visits a month and these are non unique visits.

Facebook's 1.5 billion monthly active users (web and mobile) contribute over 27 billion visits a month to the website (remember these are non-uniques). Migme's 40 million monthly active users contribute 632K? Those numbers don't quite add up.

3) But maybe the rest of the 39 million monthly active users (or 97.5%) are iPhone users? I did consider this but how likely is it considering that its core market is the lower income of the developing world?We'll never know for sure because the App Store unlike Google Play doesn't reveal the download numbers.

I'm not sure how stringent the audit or due diligence of the auditing firms are. I know I can certainly trust audited reports for the financials but I'm not sure what the process is for monthly active users.

I'm not saying Migme is a scam or that you should sell or buy. I'm just sharing the evidence from 3rd party trackers here so you guys can make your own informed investment decisions. Feel free to conduct the same experiment with the tools above on the other social networks.
