Easy the Government doesn't want the GDP to drop and try to pretend we have exponential economic growth with out recession ever, whilst the per capita GDP slides we are actually not getting richer we just import people, create stupid demand for housing at jacked up prices to keep the wheels turning and no real product coming out of our inefficient economy other than some socialism and mental illness.

Edit: I am not anti immigration I am anti current large government policies and reasons for them increasing immigration with out investment in infrastructure to support people coming here. Also more selective immigration to people who will bring more wealth to the nation to help build it and produce great business like many immigrants have using measures of restriction of welfare and benefits offset with tax breaks if they start up businesses could be better ways to do things.
