BB, you are dead right..there IS a direct link between diet and the issue in question.
Rabbitoh, yes, the left hand is dirty. You do NOT use it to take food from a shared plate, or indeed even use it to offer something, including paying or receiving change. I once upset a friend by teaching them how to pour a beer, tilting the glass with my left hand while I poured from the bottle, then not thinking as I slid the beer to him with my left hand...bad move. the beer went flying off the table & he went ballistic....it was deemed a deadly insult. The worst insult you can give is to touch someone's food with your left hand. Needless to say, all beers had tall heads after that...and yes, a lot of them enjoy a beer. You cant even gesture to someone to sit down with your left hand....
I never, ever told them that I use my right hand... :-)
