It's bad enough when you're young, have a young family, and you have pets. You know, although you don't think about it at the time, that they're going to die and you & the kids will be terribly upset about it all. But it's probably even worse when you're old and you take on a new pet and then it dawns on you that you'll die first. What's going to happen to it? Will it have to go back to surviving in the wild when it's got used to being looked after. It's one more thing to worry about. I should have turned it away in the beginning.
