I guess one reason why women don't get fair representation in the work place is.........women.
    The Sunday Times, page 28
It's been long suspected that sime employers are swayed by a pretty face in a jib interview. But being good looking may be an impediment to getting to that stage in the first place. Attractive women who attach a photo to their CV are less likely to get an interview than their plainer rivals or those who do not send in a picture, research reveals.

It blames young, single and 'jealous' women in personnel departments , who screen which job seekers should be invited in. But in an example of double standards that the researchers said these staff employed, attractive men who attached a photograph are more likely to get an interview than plain ones. Staff in personnel departments are overwhelmingly female, typically single and aged 29 on average, researchers found.
The evidence points to female jealousy of attractive women in the workplace as a primary reason for their penalisation in recruitment. Researchers from The Royal Economic Society sent more than 5300 CVs for 2650 jobs- two for each job. One contained a photo of sn attractive man or woman, or a plain looking man or woman. The other CV did not have a photo.
Nearly 20% of attractive men got an interview. But only 12.8% of women fared as well. Of plain men, 9.2% got an interview, compared with 13.6% of plain women.
So there you go, it's hard to climb the corporate ladder if your fellow colleagues won't give you a ladder, or if they do, check the rungs for sabotage LOL ;)
