The caesarean births are to stop women dying during childbirth and has resulted in a significant reduction in maternal mortality rates over the last century. Personally I would think that is a good thing.
As to the hyphenated name, you will be pleased to know that my wife does not have a hyphenated surname. In fact she refused to take any part of my name. She actually kept the surname she was born with. Shocking I know. Women nowadays........
