Thanks smooge for posting this (I was just about to do the same).
There are two key parts to this announcement:
1. "these trials produced encouraging results confirming the efficiency of the Eden process"
2. "no external research funding was available to the third party to pursue further research into this project"
The above two points are the facts. Everything else is pure speculation.
Eden’s Hydrogen/CNT/CNF production process has already been successfully commercialised. Of this there is no doubt. It is only a matter of how people define successful. I see the success of EdenCrete as already being significant, and becoming increasingly so, from now on until the end of this year and beyond.
Eden decided very early on that there is far more money to be made through the use of its CNT's in EdenCrete and EdenPlast applications (I agree). Therefore, Eden are no longer actively pursuing the Hydrogen side of their business (which is a by-product of their CNT/CNF production).
Eden are currently using the Hydrogen produced as a valuable source of energy, which is not only lowering their overall cost of CNT/CNF manufacture, it is also lowering Eden's overall carbon footprint.
Cheers.
