    Fundamentally, I think you're right - the problem is how it was done - Morrison lacks the statecraft to do this in such a way no one looses face.

    Can you imagine Menzies, Hake, Keating, Frazer or even Howard making such an incompetent mess of it? Scomo's problem is that he's a middle manager at best - he can only manage the issues as they come up reactively, rather than develop a vision or a plan that will allow genuine leadership to shine through.

    What's depressing is that Scomo gets away with it because everyone else is worse!

    I'd like to see Frydenburg have a crack - can't be any worse than Scomo
