Draining 1cm of water from the oceans is a huge amount of water!
The combined area of the world's seas is about 360 million sq. km.
Given 1 cm = 1/100, 000 km
So 1 cm of of the world's seas equals;
360, 000, 000 ÷ 100, 000 cubic km
equals 3600 cubic km. or an area of 3600 square km holding 1 km depth of water.
Maybe when we achieve unlimited and cheap energy we can desalinate water on a large scale.
If nuclear fusion is achieved then we can look forward to mega seawater desalination plants.
