Exactly my thoughts, which I have expressed in the past. By the time WOW rolls out its first big box outlet, in 2011, WES will by 4 years into what is hopefully a successful tranformation of Coles. Also by that time, I'm sure the figures could be easily found, WES will have a bunch of extra warehouses and more in the pipeline.
Maybe WOW will make a good go of it, maybe they won't, but the market's reaction to today's news seems, at this stage, to be a bit of an overreaction.
I keep hearing that part of WOW's strategy is to distract WES from overhauling Coles - well what if it doesn't distract them, and all they are successful in doing is distracting themselves from the supermarket game which is being raided by WES, Aldi, Costco etc?
Regardless of WOW's current strength, things can change.....
