I think there is some confusion between solar activity and solar irradiance.
Obviously solar irradiance has a HUGE effect on the climate. Without it there would be none.
Solar activity, such as sunspots / magnetic effects / solar wind maye have an effect but weaker than atmospheric effects.
Note Solar irradiance does correlate with sunspot activity. Changes in solar irradiance are small with respect to the base level.
