With all these new changes I'm now going to forget about having Super, for whats the point. As a couple you will get about $32,000 pa indexed for life on the pension, plus all the other concessions that go with it without having to lift a single finger. To get this same return as an independent retired investor you need $1,000, 000 of you own money invested at 3% cash rate - I know you can do much better investing in shares and trading which involves risk, time and effort. So I'm now going to give all my money to my kids ( I have great children) which I know will give me money when ever I need it. I've worked bloody hard to be fully independent with fully owned investment property which I was going to sell and place into my wife and I super - no can do now with the $500,000 lifetime limit.
