This is the thing, if Apple/GSAT get it working well and end up charging a fee, and highly likely they will as nothing is free in this world, it could be a little cheaper maybe (also could be similar) but I would 100% want a seperate SOS device so then you need to also have this. Much better option to have pure SOS built device which allows the same functionality anyway but is purpose built - it is extremely likely yhe niche market we provide to will understand this and not move away. Could there be some impact yes, but as noted it can also get people thinking about it and opting for a Zoleo.
Re charging a fee I think partly Apple will have to do this if 2 way messaging is allowed as if you don't the network will be flooded and jammed, you will get every person using it for fun, abusing it etc. As I noted on other thread our challenge will be offering better connectivity which given there is a seperate device and more powerful antenna and size to it we should always be able to do - but this is the challenge to keep competitive advantage.
