yep
jesus used words like that
so, he said that if you want to see, then you will see, and if you don't, then you wont.
after some time (which could be lifetimes) of indulgence, a sense of dispassion arises, that begins to see cravings, and acts, of the 'flesh' for what they are - quite mundane, superficial, skin-deep, insubstantial.
there is a partial release, or partial eunuchization (that will waver from time to time) - you may only engage in a sexual act once a month instead of what used to be every week.
the only time this mode of suffering will begin to be abandoned is when one has literally had enough of it, one way or another, and there is a superior alternative.
once one knows, then that the cords have started to be cut
the knowing becomes (or manifests as) an intuition, even if memory fades.
then quire 'naturally' one is not lured so easily.
unfortunately this misunderstanding is the cause of a lot of suffering, such as hurt feelings, relationship breakups, family breakups, rejection, dejection.
the object (which is really a projection of our mind) that caused initial attraction, over time, manifests it's reality, and rather than seeing the truth of suffering in this, we look for more.
