While you are going back 73 years to 1936 and the confiscation of gold, it is just as valid to go back a further 153 years to the American War of Independence - 1775–1783.
If Americans continue to lose their basic rights and freedoms, if Americans continue to be forced to bail out the super rich, making them even wealthier, there will be serious consequences as the USA disintegrates.
It's hard to believe now, but just as the USSR broke up, look for some states to no longer want to be part of the United States of America and want to secede from the USA to escape the clutches of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank etc. etc.
Of course this will be absolutely disastrous for the US dollar.
