Perhaps KG that is part of the problem with gold, that you can purchase a new falcon with on 30 pieces of gold (krugerrands). That is such a leap of faith in the value of an otherwise worthless thing, comparable to fiat currency. I guess it is all about faith. People at least know that those 450 barrels of oil can help keep them alive and provide something concrete. When the faith in gold declines as it has in the past, people will want out. The reliance on gold ETF's will allow the exit from gold to become a stampede and the crash in gold prices will be more catastrophic than the demise of Bear Stearns.
