The initial report provided a bit of levity. The language that the press writer used indicated that he imagined that the Pilbara is like the Blue Mountains. Or maybe he is short.

For those who have lived in the bush forever, with fires an annual occurrence, the recent press reporting has been appalling. They don't actually report, they dramatise for maximum effect and concern. And happily use old footage when the new footage does not do the trick.

Aborigines have been routinely lighting fires in the remote outback for centuries. Most fires are lit naturally by lightning, its the building of homes in forests that is the problem.
